Kenya’s women’s roll ball team, under the coaching of Mr. Martin Abunde, showcased their prowess in the sixth World Cup games held in India. Captain Emily Amino led the team to prove themselves as multiple champions by dominating the tournament to defend their title. Angela Kithinji from Kenya was named the lady of the match in the final, contributing to their remarkable achievement.
The journey to the final was marked by Kenya’s exceptional performance at the group stage, where they defeated Nepal 8-1, France 10-0, Sri Lanka 6-2, and Egypt 2-1. In the semi-finals, Kenya overcame Poland 2-1, securing their spot in the championship match against Egypt.
In the final at the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, India, Kenya’s women’s team displayed outstanding skills, securing a convincing 5-0 victory over Egypt. This triumph marks their second consecutive World Cup win, following their 2019 victory in Chennai, India, where they defeated the host nation, India, 2-1.
The 2023 victory is a testament to the team’s consistency and dedication, solidifying Kenya’s position as a powerhouse in the world of roll ball. The men’s team also demonstrated remarkable prowess, defeating India 7-4 in the final, further showcasing Kenya’s dominance in the sport.
