How is Roll Ball Played?

Roll Ball is played between two teams, each consisting of 12 players — 6 active players on the field and 6 in reserve. The game is played on a smooth-surfaced court measuring 40 meters in length and 20 meters in width, with clearly marked boundary lines, penalty areas, and goalposts at each end.

Objective of the Game

The primary goal of Roll Ball is simple: score as many goals as possible within the stipulated time. Players pass, dribble, and shoot the ball while skating, aiming to outmaneuver opponents and score by throwing the ball into the opposing team’s goalpost. The team with the highest number of goals at the end of the game emerges victorious.

To ensure safety and optimal performance, Roll Ball players must wear appropriate gear, including:

  • Roller Skates or Inline Skates – Designed for speed and maneuverability.
  • Protective Gear – Helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards are mandatory to prevent injuries.
  • Roll Ball – A specially designed ball that players can hold in one or both hands and dribble while skating.

Gameplay and Rules

Roll Ball is a high-energy sport that requires excellent coordination and control.

Here’s how the game unfolds:

  • Starting the Game: The match begins with a center pass, similar to handball.
  • Dribbling & Passing: Players can dribble the ball while skating and pass it to teammates using either one or both hands.
  • Shooting: A goal is scored when the ball is successfully thrown into the opponent’s goalpost.
  • Defensive Play: Players can block opponents and attempt to regain possession of the ball, but physical contact is restricted to specific situations to maintain fair play.
  • Time Duration: Matches are typically played in two halves, with each half typically lasting 20-25 minutes (depending on the level of competition). There is also a halftime break between the two halves. If needed, extra time or penalty shootouts may be used to determine the winner in case of a tie.
